Before you exchange

A useful reference. Your actual quote may differ.

01

Won into yen

KRW is the South Korean won; JPY is the Japanese yen. Both are counted in whole units, without cents, and one won is worth only a fraction of a yen. Enter an amount in won, or swap to turn a yen price into won.

02

Count the zeros

Korean banknotes go up to 50,000 won and Japanese ones to 10,000 yen, so prices on both sides run into the thousands. A misplaced zero is an easy mistake. Check the result here before you pay or exchange cash.

03

Keep a reference in your pocket

In the Android app, save the pairs you use, compare several currencies and enter your own exchange rate. Download rates before you leave to keep a reference available offline.

Good to know

About converting won and yen.

Why does the table start at 1,000 won?

A single won is worth less than one yen, so small amounts convert to almost nothing. The table starts with 1,000 won, the smallest Korean banknote, and goes up to one million.

Can I convert yen to won?

Yes. Tap the swap button. The converter and the table of common amounts switch to JPY to KRW.

How up to date is the conversion?

The timestamp below the result tells you when the rate data was updated, in your local time. The page requests the latest available data when opened and refreshes while in use. It does not stream market prices. If an update fails, it can keep using data less than 24 hours old with a visible notice. Otherwise, it shows an unavailable state.

Will I receive exactly this amount when exchanging money?

Not necessarily. This is an indicative conversion. Your provider may use a different exchange rate and apply fees. Check the final quote with your bank or exchange office before exchanging.
